ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) unveiled its 2 new Advantage Edition gaming laptops today- Asus ROG Strix G15 and G17. These 2 are the very first laptops from any company to pair the new AMD’s highest-end mobile GPU- Radeon RX 6800M GPU with AMD’s highest-end mobile CPU- Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU in one build.
AMD announced the Radeon RX 6000M Series graphics yesterday. It delivers 1440p gameplay at 120 FPS while supporting ray tracing, compute, and traditional effects.
Asus ROG Strix G15 and G17 Advantage Edition Specs:
Asus ROG Strix G15 and Asus ROG Strix G17 Advantage Edition gaming laptops comes with 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch displays. Both laptops offers a 300Hz FHD display with a 3ms response time or a WQHD 165Hz panel with a 3ms response time. Both displays will also support FreeSync Premium for smooth gameplay output.
The laptops include a 90Wh battery that supports quick charging to 50% in 33 minutes. The laptops can charge with USB-C up to 100W and claims to offer up to 11.4 hours of video playback.
Both the Asus ROG Strix G15 and G17 Advantage Edition laptops use liquid metal thermal compound on the CPU and GPU. ROG states that this compound lowers temperatures by as much as 14 °C (25.2 °F). They also each have a vapor chamber that covers components, including the CPU, GPU, and 16-phase VRM. The Strix G15 and G17 Advantage Edition laptops each feature self-cleaning cooling systems. In addition to reducing heat overall, ROG specifically designed a CoolZone on the laptops to keep heat away from their keyboards.
The two laptops come with AMD’s SmartShift and Smart Access Memory technologies. These technologies allow the high-end CPU and GPU to work closely together. SmartShift dynamically adjusts load between the CPU and GPU. The will help boost the performance by up to 15%. Smart Access Memory improves data transfer between the CPU and CPU, minimizing bottlenecking.
The laptops also have 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. Ports include 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI 2.0, three USB Type-A slots, one USB Type-C port, and one RJ45 LAN port. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.1. Both the Advantage Edition laptops have twin speakers. These speakers are tuned with Dolby Atmos, which supports virtual 5.1.2-channel surround sound, AI mic noise-cancelling and inbuilt array microphone.
Also, the laptops have Customizable Armor Caps and Aura Sync lighting, to help users get a personalized look.
As of now, the pricing and release date for both the laptops have not been announced yet. Although, the company says that Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition will be available sometime soon whereas Asus ROG Strix G17 Advantage Edition will be available in the third quarter of this year.
